J. Pechauer

This company was founded by chance in 1961, and it has now been in business for over 55 years. While training to become a mechatronics engineer at the International Harvester Company (IHC), Jerry Pechauer played a game of pool and won. As was customary, they were playing for money. However, his opponent had no money, only a valuable but broken cue made by Willy Hope. Mr Pechauer bought a simple woodworking machine and set out to build a tip that would fit the cue. For the next 14 years, he worked for IHC, but continued to offer cue repairs in his spare time, becoming increasingly well-known in the process. When his 14-year-old son Joe finished building his first cue, Jerry was so impressed that he decided to start a family business. Following a meeting with Fred Mali of Mali Cues in New York, the company J. Pechauer Cues gained a reputation and became famous.
Pechauer now has over 400 dealers marketing his products worldwide. As a side note, Oliver Ortmann and Paul Gerni have had their own cue lines manufactured and marketed by J. Pechauer.
